Dancers among Us

"BE passionate, joyful, euphoric, intense, desperate, present, ALIVE"

This are the words that have inspired Jordan Matter from 2009 when he decided to start

this project, Dancers among Us. Matter was wondering after watching his little kid play,

 Where does our passion go when we grow up? How would it look if we do everyday 

activities with joy? So, the idea for this project became capturing people doing regular 

activities with passion, for this he chose dancers. In the words of the artist : 

 "Dancers are storytellers. They’re trained to personify passionate moments, their bodies 

imbued with a stunning combination of artistry and athleticism. They create a fantasy 

world, offering us a deeper look into familiar settings. They bring to life what we feel but are 

unable to express physically."

Everyday places, different people, different attitudes.

"The process of producing the images is organic; created through a spontaneous 

collaboration with the dancers. The resulting photographs are unaffected and not highly 

stylized. The essence of the subject material parallels the current state of our society, 

where people are finding an appreciation of smaller, simpler pleasures. The images are 

infused with a humor and joyfulness that make the viewer feel good. The carefree nature of 

the work is a welcome antidote to the persistent anxiety that defines many people’s lives."

Car Poolers By Alejandro Cartagena

This is a photographic story on Mexican Car Poolers done By Artist Alejandro Cartagena, that I

loved. As a Latin American I see this daily and I  had never thought that someone can make something

artistic and fun on something that is absolutely normal here, like too many people in one car traveling

on a freeway like this. Its dangerous but its one of thous things that you just take for granted because

they are there and you wouldn't stop to think about. That's why I believe this serie is so good, because

of it's quotidianity because he puts on the spot something that is usually unseen.

Switcheroo by Hana Pusut

The idea is to get some couples to choose their own clothes and then switch it with their 


partner. This results in some funny images. The idea, is questioning gender, What makes 


us masculine us femenine? Why do we think are clothes makes us that way? I believe it's a 


very interesting experiment. Images speak for themselves.

I Specially like this two couples because  they also added attitude to the photos wich makes them a lot funner to watch an also puts emphasis on the  goal of them, which is exchanging roles.

Aaron Farley's Horizons

These are not real photographs of real things. The original photographs are of water and 


clouds and these are photographs of those photographs, turned on their side, moved, 


reshot, reprinted, cut and folded, and reassembled to create a different scene which still 


looks familiar. This is the way photographer Aaron Farley conceived his last project 


Horizons. 

Berndnaut Smilde

Berndnault Smilde is the amsterdam-based artist who has made this instalations wich 

result in a mixture of physics and art. Smilde introduced smoke, moisture and 

backlighting in a vacant room and  this way he  is able to create an optical  illusion that 

makes us think there is a cloud in a room. Genius. 

On the words of the  artist:

"you could see the cloud as a sign of misfortune. you could also read it as an element out of the dutch 

landscape paintings

in a physical form in a classical museum hall. at the same time I wanted to make (for once) a very clear image, 

an almost cliché

and cartoon like visualization of having bad luck: 'indeed, there nothing here and bullocks, it’s starting to rain!''

For some days now, I have been going crazy about this images on pinterest then I finally 

found who made them. This husband + Wife creative team did a beautiful work contrasting 

the 

smoke's color with the desert's landscape. 

White + Blue

Amazing contrast between the purple and peach with the snowy forest back ground I imagine this 

being the set for a fantasy book.

Color in editorials

 Color in editorials is something more frequent everyday. Whether its because of colorful make up,

coloring your hair or just  colorful clothes, it's not brave to say that color is todays fashion. Im

obsessed with this editorials, maybe because I want to dye my hair lilac, and I'm terrified to ruin my hair 


when I do it or just because I love color.

LOVE the blue lipstick combined with the pink hair!
