RAF SIMONS

Last year when John Galliano was fired from Dior I was devastated, I'm not exaggerating. It was all I could talk about for weeks, Galliano for me is Couture, I love the guy, Crazy, Dramatic, Theatrical, despite anything he might say or do He is an amazing designer someone who inspires me. Every time I watched a new Couture collection I stayed a long time wondering how much work the dresses would have taken and how crazy everything was. He is the type of designer that you cannot be neutral about you must have an opinion because he walks on the line between being a genius and just vulgar. The thing is I love him and I am genuinely worried of who can do the couture job, because I do not believe the pret-a-porter line is a problem. After the Gayten disappointment I had really big expectations for Simons. I love belgian designer in general. So what could go wrong. I know most people love the line but I think most of it is just plain.
Let's start from the highlights:
Dior couture 2012 simons
Love this dresses VERY Dior flatering for the body, the deep blue in the right one is amazing and the texture in the bottom is just stunning, Amazing dress, a timeless classic. The dress on the left is puffy something that I used to love from the Dior couture collections, everything was girly and puffy. I like this dress, the reason why I do not love it is because Im not very fond on the transparency on the top, but its a tren so I won't critisize it, But the length is weird and that is what makes me not be in love with It but I do believe its a very Dior Dress done In a beautiful way.
Dior couture 2012 simons
Im in love with both dresses although I've got the same transparency problem with the one in the left. I do believe the dresses are beautiful but do they belong in a Dior collection, I don't thing they are very Dior. But I would wear both of them anyway, amazing dresses.
Dior couture 2012 simons
Beautiful again, but is this Couture? I Don't think so.

The coat has the shape of a typical Dior Couture Coat, But the Pattern? I think this is a piece that shows Simons as a designer, and I like It but I do not love him doing Couture.

So I do have to say that he made mostly a very beautiful collection but for some exceptions it just doesn't feel like Couture.
